Stanley Park Junior School
Black History Month Workshops
2024

We ran workshops at Stanley Park Junior School in Carshalton as part of their Black History Month celebrations.

OUR WORK IN THE UK
For Windrush Day 2023 WEF went into Stanley Park Infants school, Carshalton in the London Borough of Sutton.
We gave a talk to the whole school about the people who were invited to come from the Caribbean from 1948 to live and work in Britain. Kardar and Randolph told the children about the experiences of their families when they first came to England from Antigua and Jamaica.

The children followed this up by drawing pictures about their home life, which will be sent to Nelvie N Gore Primary school in Willikies as part of our cultural exchange initiative. The school there did the same, to show the children here what life in Antigua is like.

We also held workshops for each class demonstrating Caribbean culture through food, music and dance.
We were lucky enough to get a lottery grant to fund these activities

Making Connections 2024
We have followed up our work in Stanley Park school attending assemblies and their summer fair, which was on Windrush day.

The children drew pictures of themselves for us to take to Antigua.
We also gave out our books and magazines to inform people about Antigua and Barbuda and the connections between us.

WEF also attended a local festival to raise awareness and support for our Caribbean project.
